Introducing... Turpin's Craft Can Range

Turpinscans.jpg

Having dealt firmly within the cask and keg trade since our inception in 2014, We at Turpin’s Brewery are proud to present our all new core range of canned craft beers! It’s been a long time in the making, with a lot of hard work, but now they’re finally here and we are super excited to get them out there to all you thirsty hopheads.

There’s something really special about seeing your product neatly packaged into hundreds of uniform cans. It’s a rewarding and symbolic moment of progress and it feels even better when you crack one open for the first quality control session!

Let us introduce you to the range…

NAPA: New American Pale Ale 5%

The first of our beers to be canned was our beloved NAPA, standing for New American Pale Ale. Overall, it’s a beautifully hazy, juicy, hop-forward beer and despite being American in name and style, NAPA is very much British in nature thanks to the home-grown hop duo of Olicana and Goldings which provide a wonderfully heady aroma of pine and grapefruit when you stick your nose in the glass. This is due in part to some heavy dry-hopping that takes place during the brew. On first sip, big tropical flavours unleash themselves on the palate, with a delicately soft mouthfeel, making this a far more sessionable beer than the 5% tag suggests. If you’re a fan of this style, check out this Hi Consumption article on some of the best American Pale Ale’s available on the market and see how many you’ve tried before - we can vouch for Half Acre’s Daisy Cutter Pale - easily one of the best balanced beers around. Napa is vegan friendly.

Food pairing suggestion: Try with Thai food to complement the aromatics, or anything with a bit of spice to enhance the heat!

Mango Milkshake Pale Ale 4.3%

Next up is our off-the-wall Mango Milkshake Pale Ale. This is without a doubt one of our funkiest beers, providing a unique beer experience for the senses: mango flavours explode on the palate, super-fruity aromas and an unctuously creamy mouthfeel are delivered by the addition of mango puree to the fermenter and lactose to the copper. If you are unfamiliar with the ‘milkshake’ style of beer which has risen in popularity in the craft beer sector over the past few years, the basic idea is to create a highly creamy texture to the beer and the main way to achieve this is by adding lactose - check out this article from VinePair for the full lowdown on milkshake and smoothie style beers. The result: a full-bodied, exotic juice-bomb of a beer for when you’re looking for something a little more unique.

Food pairing suggestion: The creamy, juiciness of this beer will work well with fruit-based desserts, or for a curveball option, try alongside Mexican food.

Cambridge Black Stout 4.6%

Our award-winning stout has found a new form within a can and it’s just as good as its cask and keg cousins. The big players here are deep notes of roasted coffee and chocolate, provided by a complex, yet balanced malt base that adds a smooth mouthfeel to the brew as well.

Once the hype of new style IPAs died down a little in the craft beer boom, drinker’s tastes have begun to wander elsewhere and led them to explore more varied styles that which weren’t always so readily available. Traditional beers such as stouts and porters have made a big comeback and as Beverage Daily notes, it is the fastest growing beer variety in the UK with the demand rising dramatically. Just as well our Cambridge Black is our bread and butter, right?

Cambridge Black is perfect all year round when you need that dark beer fix - vegan friendly too!

Food pairing suggestion: Ideal with rich barbecued or smoked meat dishes, or even indulgent, chocolatey desserts.

Underback Pilsner 4.6%

The next beer to return to us very soon in our gorgeous little cans will be our Underback Pilsner; a modern take on the classic style that really drives up the flavour profile in comparison with what has come before in the lager beer sector. The ultimate when it comes to refreshment, our pilsner is crisp and clean, drawing out notes of pine and lemongrass with the help of some Olicana hops. Underback is a homage to a style that has pleased beer drinkers for years upon years, but we’ve crafted it into something that refreshes the status quo, as well as you :) For more on the resurgence of lagers and pilsners in the craft brewing world, have a read of The Takeout’s article here . Underback is also vegan friendly.

Food pairing suggestion: Great with pretty much anything you can think of, but particularly burgers, pizza and spicy chicken wings.
